I was let down three times by Blue Star
10:00am Saturday 10th May 2008
I HAD three bad experiences on the No 1 Blue Star service from Southampton to Winchester recently. I sent an e-mail to the address they give on their posters aand I have not had a reply.

Sad bedside vigil was made even worse
10:00am Saturday 10th May 2008
SOUTHAMPTON General Hospital has an excellent rate of success, but one area of neglect is the patient who is dying. A relative of mine sat by the bedside of his ageing parent in a single room for two nights.

I TOTALLY agree with the letter about traffic lights slowing vehicles (April 29).

Fluoridation
10:00am Friday 9th May 2008
After reading Dr Mortimore's recent letter in the Echo about fluoridation and Professor John Newton's subsequent claim that "the fluoride consultation will be a fair process" and "the opportunity to look at the available facts" will be given to the public, I decided to visit the website (southamptonhealth.nhs.uk/fluoridation) that Dr Mortimore recommended for those seeking more information on the subject.

Fluorde would made a big difference to dental health
10:00am Friday 9th May 2008
Last year Southampton City Primary Care Trust's dental service removed over 3,900 teeth from 700 children under a general anaesthetic to relieve pain and infection caused through tooth decay.

Fluoridation benefits misrepresented
10:00am Friday 9th May 2008
I would like to believe that Prof Newton's assurance (Letters, May 3) that the fluoridation consultation will be a fair process but I doubt it.

MY partner and I read the letter from Dr Andrew Mortimore, public health director of Southampton City Primary Care Trust, condoning fluoridisation for the area and were very upset to read his opinion.

Fluoridation would combat tooth decay
10:00am Friday 9th May 2008
I fully support the topping-up of fluoride in Southampton's drinking water to a level of one part per million in order to improve dental health in all ages, and especially to combat the huge levels of tooth decay in young children.

No evidence of ill-effects
10:00am Friday 9th May 2008
I was elected by Hampshire dentists as media representative on the Local Dental Committee. As a practice, we look after over 5,000 patients and I can assure you dental decay is real in all ages, which if left can cause tremendous pain and suffering.

Fluoridise and quickly!

I'M headteacher at the school which has had, for years, dental health statistics amongst the worst in the country.

A worthwhile move
10:00am Friday 9th May 2008
FURTHERr to Dr Andrew Mortimore's letter (April 26) in the Daily Echo, I'd like to express my support for the planned fluoridation of Southampton's water supply.
