    Centenary Quay proposals

SEVERAL correspondents on the subject of Centenary Quay seem to feel that the Woolston Community Association is against the development. Far from it - we agree that much benefit will be gained.

The arrival of Palmer Johnson is very good news for the area.

It is felt, however, that there are several serious issues that should be addressed before the plans proceed.

For instance, how many realise that the plans currently before Southampton City Council differ considerably from those seen at early public meetings? The Water-side Promenade has seriously changed character, and the housing density has in-creased with resultant transport and parking problems.

Membership of Woolston Community Association is open to anyone with an interest in the well-being of Woolston. Input of any sort is welcomed, the higher the membership the better chance Woolston has of surviving as a thriving suburban community.

    MRS PAT PRESLAND.
