Tackle the concerns over foreign cabbies
I'M sorry but surely there are more important things going on to worry about than what a taxi driver wears. If people want drivers in suits and opening doors for them, get a chauffeur.
I agree that hoodies are not appropriate but they are not appropriate anywhere, not just for taxi drivers and I would like to see anyone who is willing to sit in a car all day in a suit and be comfortable, especially in the summer.
I think Southampton City Council should be more concerned about the fact that many pensioners these days won't book taxis because there are so many foreign drivers who don't speak a word of English and, despite what the council says, they don't know where they are going and try to get more money by taking passengers the long way round.
There are many good taxi drivers who are being given a bad name because of what people have been saying recently.
KAREN ROGERS, Southampton.
