    OAPs deserve a big increase too

    YOU certainly have to hand it to the politicians for their gall. Their spokesman reckons because there is cross-party agreement to the proposed £15,000 increase in the salary, it must be acceptable!

    I expect all the senior citizens of all political persuasion also agree that they should be given a pay increase which brings them up to the Government poverty level of £16,942 per annum. And this is only slightly above the suggested increase for MPs, so I see no problem.

    At a stroke it would remove a whole tier of bureaucrats from the tax credit agencies together with the associated costs..
