A worthwhile move
FURTHERr to Dr Andrew Mortimore's letter (April 26) in the Daily Echo, I'd like to express my support for the planned fluoridation of Southampton's water supply.
I think that the topping up of fluoride in our drinking water will have a positive effect on the dental health of the region, and it is a shame that some people are opposed to the scheme.
It seems that much of this opposition stems from misunderstanding the risks associated with fluoride. As far as I can tell, there is no real scientific evidence of any serious health risks.
I hope that the scheme can be succesfully implemented, as I think it is a very worthwhile cause for the many diverse communities in the region.
