    Poppy appeal’s success

THANKS to the generous support of the public, businesses, schools and the hard-working voluntary organisers, Hampshire Royal British Legion raised £1,057,130 from its annual Poppy appeal which is an unprecedented increase of 19 per cent on the previous year. Thank you so much.

The need is greater than ever with the welfare support of the service charities under much pressure at the present time.

The annual Poppy appeal is ongoing (not just in November) and to this end may I encourage you all to support the County Poppy Walk which will be held in the Foxbury Plantation, East Wellow, near Romsey on Sunday, June 1 from 9.30am. Your sponsorship will support your local branch's appeal and forms can be obtained from the county office on 023 8085 1400. The event will be supported by the local Army Cadets, Scouts and Guides.

ROY FARMERS, county president, Hampshire Royal British Legion.
