Dogs should stay on leads
I THINK something needs to be done about inconsiderate dog owners in Totton and Eling, especially Eling Recreation Park. I have two small children one of whom is in a pushchair. We have a loving and loyal Jack Russell that we enjoy walking through the park and up to Goatie Beach.
We cannot do this any more without it being stressful and upsetting because of thoughtless people letting their dogs (most of which are big dogs) run and roam without a lead as if they are the only people out walking dogs.
It irritates me to see kids sat in front of the TV or with their heads down on a computer. I enjoy being outside and encourage my kids to be the same and to have something so simple like walking a dog taken away from you because people are rude and selfish for not keeping their dogs on leads.
To me I think this is wrong and unfair. It should be the law in parks and public places like Eling to have your dog on a lead. I have had many confrontations where I have let go of the pushchair to lift the dog above my head because of the dogs fighting.
On one occasion a member of my family was bitten by a dog as he lifted his terrier above his head to save the dogs from fighting. I find this frightening and it upsets my children. I really feel strongly that something should be done about this, then maybe my children and I can enjoy walking our dog like everyone else.
