Barnet Copthall Swimming Club came away with 70 medals including 32 golds from Luton's inaugural gala.

The swimmers who were among the medals included Freddie Cornwell and Lottie Bell who both won seven gold medals. Charlie Boldison also contributed to the haul by winning four times.

The impressive swimming didn’t stop there as Amber Ormerod and Felix Cheng both won three gold medals each.

Barnet had more success as young swimmer Yaron Gerber recently competed for the English national team for the first time. Gerber was involved in the medals too achieving a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke and gold in the medley relay.

The synchronised swimmers at Barnet Copthall have been awarded a place at the national age group championship which is due to take place in early December.

Lucy Carter, Alice Bell and Vlada Kotter will all be competing in their respective age groups hoping that they can win medals but also have a chance of securing selection in to the GB talent squad. This would be the first step to become a member of the GB team.

Barnet Copthall chief coach Rhys Gormley said: "It may be just the beginning of the season but Barnet Copthall’s swimmers have already put in some strong performances which bodes well for the rest of the year."

"Our senior swimmers are performing well but this is complimented by the efforts of younger swimmers who have been competing and winning at home galas.

"Our success at top level galas, at our own local galas and not forgetting the achievement of our synchronised swimmers shows the strength and depth of the club as whole."
