ABP Southampton presented local charity Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity with a cheque for £30,000.

Last year port staff took on various challenges to raise money for the hospice from scaling mountains to rowing the port.

Lesley Burn, chief executive officer of Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity, which helps people with life limiting illnesses, said: “ABP has been a fantastic corporate supporter and it has raised an amazing amount for Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity.

“All the staff were keen to support the charity and get involved in fundraising. From the Three Peaks Challenge to a London to Paris cycle ride, and a golf day to the Row the Port Challenge, ABP staff have really embraced fundraising ventures to raise money for the charity.

“The money raised will help fund the ‘over and above’ items and services the charity provides to support the patients, their relatives and the staff of Countess Mountbatten House both in the hospice and our community.”

ABP Southampton’s nominated charity for 2015 is The Society of St James, a homelessness charity that supports over 3,000 vulnerable people every year. Its ethos is to work with people to identify their needs and find ways to support them through access to sports, training, education and employment.
