THE world’s newest cruise ship will be unveiled in Southampton next year.
Passengers on board the 141,000-ton Royal Princess will be able to walk out over the water and enjoy facilities which appear to be floating in mid-air.
The latest cruise ship will be officially revealed for the first time in Southampton during June, 2013.
Ship operator Princess Cruises would not say whether Royal Princess will be named in the city, but previously all vessels, which have made their international debut in Southampton, were also christened here.
Among the innovative ideas incorporated in Royal Princess is a SeaWalk, a topdeck, glass-bottomed enclosed walkway on the ship’s starboard extending more than 28ft beyond the edge of the vessel.
Similarly, the ship’s SeaView cocktail bar will enable passengers to enjoy panoramic views over the waves.
Royal Princess will feature an adults-only pool surrounded by seven private cabanas, which will also appear to be floating on the water, two additional pools, a water and light show, as well as a huge open-air cinema.
At the heart of Royal Princess, the first in a new generation of vessels, will be an atrium high above the largest “piazza’’ area on any of the company’s vessels.
The choice of the port for the celebrations surrounding the ship’s maiden voyage, beginning June 23, is a coup for Southampton. With accommodation for up to 3,600 passengers, Royal Princess will be the largest vessel ever built for the company.
The maiden voyage will be a seven-night cruise from Southampton to Barcelona, where the ship will be based for her inaugural summer season.
Royal Princess will also undertake two short, threenight preview cruises from Southampton in June 2013.
The ship is the first of two new-generation vessels for Princess, which are being built by Fincantieri in Italy.

So long as it doesn't sound it's fog horn in the middle of the night for its celebrations I couldn't care less! Getting fed up with these ships leaving at 4am and sounding their fog horns when their is no fog just to say good-bye. If I sound my car horn I'll get a fine!
