Eurodam heads up summer cruise bonanza
The world's newest cruise ship, Holland America Line's Eurodam, will be among a total of six vessels to berth in Southampton during a hectic 48-hour period this week.
In excess of 24,000 passengers will be joining and disembarking from the ships on Friday and Saturday, as Southampton's summer cruise season moves into top gear.
Eurodam, the first in the company's new Signature class of vessels, is due to be alongside 104 berth in the city's Western Docks at 7am this Friday, the same day as Norwegian Jade will be at 101 berth while Queen Mary 2 is at 38/9 berth in the Eastern Docks.
The brand new Holland America Line vessel is expected to leave Southampton at 4pm on Saturday when Oceana is at 38/9 berth, Sea Princess at the Mayflower Terminal and Independence of the Seas is berthed at the City Cruise Terminal.
Eurodam, which only recently left the Italian shipyard near Venice where she was built, is visiting Southampton as part of a programme of inaugural events.
With accommodation for up to 2,104 passengers, Eurodam has 11 passenger decks which include the ultra luxurious penthouse verandah suites boasting a king-size bed, living room, dining room, dressing room, bathroom with an oversize whirlpool, private balcony with whirlpool, pantry and floor-to-ceiling windows.
