A SAINTS fan got romantic advice from an unusual source when he asked the club's Twitter account to help him track down a love interest.
The supporter, known only as Timothy, sent a tweet to the official Saints account asking if they would tell him the name of a girl who sat near him and gave him “the eyes”.
The unusual conversation began following the side's 3-0 win over Everton, although at first the club declined to help and cited data protection laws.
Another fan suggested that Timothy simply talk to the girl in question and the club's official account agreed, telling him to “man up”.
Timothy's romantic plans were foiled when tragedy struck and his car broke down on the way to Saint's 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
He tweeted: “My car broke down on the way, didn't make the game #heartbroken. Maybe a New Year's Day halftime shoutout?”
@SouthamptonFC Unreal looking girl that sits 4 seats next to me that keeps giving me eyes. Can you tell me who sits in block 24 seat 626?

@_timcorn @SouthamptonFC Why don't you just speak to her next game?

@StGaryofBrant @_timcorn We're with Gary. Christmas is the time to tell people how you really feel – maybe you should've done it yesterday.

@SouthamptonFC @StGaryofBrant so basically to put it brutally, man up and speak to her is what you're saying?
— Timothy (@_timcorn) December 21, 2014
@_timcorn @StGaryofBrant Well...
— Southampton FC (@SouthamptonFC) December 21, 2014
@SouthamptonFC better idea, you set both her and I up to race against each other in the half time zorb race? 😏
— Timothy (@_timcorn) December 21, 2014
@_timcorn You can't simply force someone into a zorb race. Man up and ask if she fancies a drink – no lady can resist a hot Bovril.

Any updates for us, @_timcorn? #saintsfc
