FIREFIGHTERS found themselves walking waist deep in foam on an industrial estate last night.
Firefighters were called by Eaton Aerospace in Fareham to what those on site thought was a flood after the drencher system went off.
One described the scene as "like a foam party" due to sheer volume of foam the fault had produced.
The drencher system is designed to protect the aviation fuel tanks on the Titchfield site, in Abbey Park, off Southampon Road, from igniting and mixes water with foam.
A crew from Fareham attended at around 4am to try and tried to find the source of the water.
They established there was no fire and that the drencher must have gone off accidentally due to a fault.
"We were walking around up to our waist in foam trying to find out what was the matter, it was like a foam party," said Fareham firefighter Gary Cross.
"It was like a snowy day."
