MOTORISTS in Southampton are facing more misery this morning because of the on-going repairs to the Northam Bridge.
Drivers on the eastern side of Southampton are facing delays of up to an hour according to First Bus - with traffic being particularly bad along Woodmill Lane and Lances Hill.
It comes as Southampton City Council announced they will hold an inquiry into the traffic chaos that happened when work started on the bridge on Monday.
Drivers reported jams lasting as long as 45 minutes, with some describing the gridlock as “horrendous” while others called for tolls on the Itchen Bridge to be scrapped to ease the traffic build-up.
Northam Bridge is undergoing 20 weeks of waterproofing works that have been funded through £1.2m worth of Government cash.
