POLICE arrested a man on a Southampton-bound train in connection with an alleged assault following a football match.
Two men on a train from Brighton were involved in an altercation just hours after the city's team entertained Watford at the American Express Community Stadium.
The trouble is believed to have boiled over after one man objected to the other singing football-related chants.
It came shortly after Watford defeated Brighton 2-0 to seal their promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.
One man assaulted the other and British Transport Police boarded the carriage at Worthing to deal with the trouble.
The victim was uninjured in the incident which took place at 7.42pm on Saturday [April 25].
He did not need hospital treatment.
A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed until May 18.
