HUNDREDS of bikers will take to Hampshire’s roads today to remember a popular teenager who died in a bike smash.

Nick Brisland died tragically when his motorcycle was in a collision with a car and taxi in Southampton, leaving his family and friends heartbroken.

The 19-year-old, who was a keen Scout, was pronounced dead at the scene of the smash in Spring Road on the evening of April 24, despite the desperate attempts of neighbours and paramedics, who tried to save him.

His death has shocked both the Scouting and biking community.

Now more than 400 bikers are set to ride out from McDonalds in Hedge End where Nick worked as a trainee manager to Portsdown Hill.

Tributes left to keen scout Nick

The idea of a ride out came from Zak Morris, 18, a trainee scaffolder from Woolston, who is also a keen biker and was at the meet in Weston Shore which Nick was on his way to before the crash.

Zak had only met Nick on a few occasions, but says as soon as the news of his death filtered through, he and other bikers wanted to do something to remember him.

Zak, said: “As bikers we all look out for each other, it is like a massive big family and for that to happen to Nick, it shocked a lot of us.

“As soon as we heard that someone had died, we thought we had to find out who he was and wanted to do something to remember him.”

It comes as more than £3,000 has been raised to help pay for his funeral and the ride out will also include a collection bucket to raise funds, and bikers will decorate their vehicles with orange and black ribbons, because orange was Nick’s favourite colour and black was chosen as a mark of respect.
