FAMOUS motoring expert Quentin Willson will be driving into Hampshire this week to share his top tips to help make the county’s roads safer.

The former Top Gear presenter is the keynote speaker at The Blue Lamp Trust’s Annual Conference, which aims to help businesses ensure their employees are safe behind the wheel.

This year’s event will take place at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s headquarters, in Eastleigh, on Friday, and will include demonstrations from local crews to show the devastation that can be caused by carelessness on the roads.

Mike Vickers, from Portsmouth City Council, will give a talk for employers about eco-driving and its benefits to businesses and Southampton firm, Foresolutions, will speak about data capture in vehicles.

Jim Bettley, general manager of the Blue Lamp Trust, said: “Quentin Willson is known across the country for his motoring expertise. He is the perfect keynote speaker for our event and we are looking forward to welcoming him on May 15.

“His talk, combined with other workshops and seminars throughout the day should really help to focus minds on driving with care and help businesses do everything possible to ensure the safety of their staff and other road users.”

The Hampshire based Trust was set up by the Fire and Rescue Service and the police to promote safety in the community.

All profit from a range of driver training programmes is re-invested into running the popular Bobby Scheme, which provides a free home safety and security for the vulnerable and elderly across Hampshire.

There is still time to a free place at the event, just email info@bluelamptrust.org.uk.
