MOTORISTS faced long tailbacks earlier today on a major Hampshire road after a three car crash.

The collision happened just before junction three of the M27 westbound at 11.20am and forced closure of two lanes of the motorway, though the Highways Agency says one has now re-opened.

Four fire engines, from Totton, Redbridge and two from Eastleigh, were called out to reports of people trapped and remain on scene, but police said that no-one had been cut free and they have now left the scene.

They said there were three minor injuries and the Highways Agency are now dealing with the incident.

Traffic is queuing back to the junction with the M3.

The Highways Agency warned of delays up to 30 minutes, which lasted until around 1.30pm.
