AN ELDERLY driver died after colliding with a crash barrier on a Hampshire motorway.

The 81-year-old man was driving a black BMW 730 on the M3 shortly after 7.40am yesterday morning.

He was travelling north around a third of a mile south of junction 5 and crossed the grass central reservation colliding with a barrier next to the opposite carriageway next to the A287 at Hook.

No other vehicles were involved the accident and no-one else was hurt.

He was taken to Frimley Park Hospital, in Surrey, where he later died. He has not yet been named.
