A LORRY blocked a main road after getting stuck.
Bullar Road in Southampton was blocked after the vehicle tried to navigate its way through the part of the road next to The Station pub.
Traffic calming measures there have reduced the width of the carriageway for vehicles travelling from Bitterne Park to Athelstan Road.
As it tried to squeeze through it cracked the drivers side wheel, leave a tail back of angry drivers.
Police were on the scene trying to move the lorry, and spent over an hour trying to recover the vehicle.
One Bullar Road resident, Desmond O'Dell said: "I don't think he saw the signs until it was too late.
"Now his wheel is cracked and the lorry is just stuck."
Traffic was being diverted via Cobbett Road, until the lorry was moved shortly before 6pm.
Cllr Eamonn Keogh said that incidents like this are the exact reason why these traffic calming measures were put in place.
He said: “We put these measures in place to stop HGV drivers going up Athelstan Road.
“Not only is it an inconvenience for residents who live there, but the road has such a steep incline we want to deter lorry drivers from going up that road.
“It is just unfortunate that something like this has to happen to make drivers aware.”
