A WOMAN was rescued from her car after a head on collision on a blind bend this morning.

Fire crews had to rip off the top of a black Hyundai in order to free the trapped woman after the incident at around 7am today.

The crash between the Hyundai and a van on a blind bend of a narrow country lane happened in Littleton Lane, Sparsholt and firefighters spent almost an hour rescuing the driver from her car.

Watch manager Rex Leeman, of Eastleigh Fire station, said: “There was a crash between a small Hyundai and a van on a one lane, country lane on a blind bend.

“A woman was trapped in the car, with medical advice we removed the roof of the vehicle using hydraulic clamps and saws.

“It was quite tricky because of the access to the road. “The actually extrication took about 40 minutes and she was taken to hospital.”

Two fire engines from Eastleigh and Winchester attended the scene.

The van driver was uninjured in the collision.
