SIX PEOPLE have been taken to hospital following a crash which closed a main road this afternoon.
The A31 Petersfield Road between Winchester and Alresford was shut in both directions by police at the A272 due to a collision involving two vehicles.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “All I can say is we are dealing with an incident and a couple of vehicles were involved.”

The crash happened at 4.40pm and crews from Winchester Fire Station are also at the scene.
The road is likely to be closed until debris is cleared.
According to the ambulance service, six patients were treated with four of them being taken to Southampton General and two to Basingstoke.
None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.
Five ambulances attended the scene, along with a rapid response vehicle.
