A WOMAN was trapped in a car after coming off the road and hitting a tree on a major road this afternoon.
Motorists are being warned to avoid the A35 near Lyndhurst, which has been closed in both directions between Rhinefield Ornamental Drive and Pinkney Lane.
A man and woman were in the 4x4 which was towing a caravan when it came off the road just after 3pm.
The woman became trapped after the vehicle collided with a tree.
After firefighters pulled her from the wreckage she was taken to Southampton General Hospital with minor injuries. The man suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
Online traffic monitor Romanse is warning commuters to avoid the area if possible as delays of at least half an hour are expected.
Firefighters from Brockenhurst and Redbridge Station were called at 3.15pm.
