A BOY has been injured after being hit by a car on a Hampshire road.
An 8-year-old was knocked down outside St John's Centre near the junction between St John's Road and Upper Northam Road in Hedge End.
The boy sustained a leg injury but was still conscious after the incident.
A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene at around 4.43pm last night and the boy was taken to Southampton General Hospital.
An eyewitness who works in Hedge End Post Office said: "I came out and he was hurt and very upset.
"It was shocking really."
Another eyewitness who did not want to be identified said that the boy was scooting across the road and that members of the public went to help stop traffic after the incident.
