I HAVE some important information for Mr D Beard, Chairman of the BBPGC (Bigoted Blinkered Paranoid Generalisations Committee) who suggested banning cycling in the Daily Echo letters page last week, based on a few observations of poor cycling habits.
While riding my bicycle last weekend, I came to a halt at a pedestrian crossing in Winchester Road, Romsey, just as it had turned red.
As the pedestrian was just taking her first step to start crossing, a red car sped past my shoulder and continued over the crossing leaving myself and the pedestrian looking at each other in disbelief.
In addition, while driving my works van on the M27 east bound, approaching Junction 4 during the week, I witnessed a car go from the fourth lane to the inside lane in one movement, cutting perilously close in front of several vehicles.
Applying his committee’s own rules of paranoia, hysteria and generalisations, I have concluded that enough is enough and the only answer is a complete ban on all motorised vehicles, leaving the roads clear for bicycles and horse drawn vehicles!
Is this motion passed, or perhaps it is not quite ridiculous enough for Mr Beard?
