A MAN is in a life-threatening condition after suffering a heart attack on a major Southampton road.

Emergency services were called to the westbound side of Redbridge Road at 8.53am on Friday.

They arrived at the scene four minutes after the call, but members of the public were already assisting the man.

South Central Ambulance Service said the man was then assessed by medical crews and taken to Southampton General Hospital.

Two lanes of the road were blocked as a result. Police also attended the scene.
