A WOMAN killed in a head-on smash with a lorry has today been named.
Christine Watkinson was the rear passenger in a Vauxhall Combo travelling towards Romsey town centre on the A309 Romsey bypass last Thursday when it collided with a white Volvo tipper lorry.
The 57-year-old, of Newton Lane, Romsey, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Vauxhall, a 62-year-old man from Romsey, sustained minor injuries.
The lorry driver, a 38-year-old man from Portsmouth, was uninjured.
Police closed the busy road for several hours following the smash to piece together what happened, and are continuing to appeal for anyone who saw the crash or either vehicle just prior to it, to get in touch.
Witnesses are asked to call Sergeant Andy Lynch at the Road Death investigation Team at Eastleigh on 101, quoting operation Elmshurst.
