Long delays at Southampton International Airport

Southampton International Airport Southampton International Airport

PASSENGERS are facing long delays at Southampton Airport tonight.

A number of Flybe flights have been cancelled or delayed.

Flights to Leeds/Bradford airport in Yorkshire and Amsterdam in Holland were delayed for at least three hours, although some other flights have been leaving.

One passenger Martin Lack, 65, said: “We were supposed to leave at 3pm. We've been bumped to 6.30pm. All we're doing is sitting here waiting. It's really chaotic.”

It is understood that the problems have been caused by an aircraft which needed repairs.

A Flybe spokesperson said: "Like any other airline, our aircraft sometimes experience technical issues which can unfortunately result in delays or cancellation, as happened today at Southampton airport.

"The safety of our staff and passengers is our highest priority and we offer our sincere apologies to all those affected.

"We are striving to correct these issues in order that they can reach their destinations as soon as possible."

What an interesting definition YOU have of anarchy. I'll give you a clue: it's got nothing to do with chaos.
