Driver caught having a shave behind the wheel

Driver caught having a shave behind the wheel Driver caught having a shave behind the wheel

A DRIVER was caught by police having a shave while at the wheel of his car.

The motorist was spotted by officers during a week-long clampdown on motorists who flout the law by not paying attention while driving.

Officers who were filming drivers from a lorry cab as it was driven along Hampshire’s motorways spotted the man using the electric razor as he sped along the carriageway.

He was pulled over and issued with a notice of intended prosecution.

As previously reported by the Daily Echo, the driver was one of 88 who were stopped by officers during Operation Tramline. The overwhelming majority of those stopped, some 55 drivers, were using their mobile while driving.

However, other drivers were spotted pouring out coffee from a flask into cup, while another was seen writing down a number on the back of their hand before attempting to then dial in on a mobile phone.

The offenders were given penalty notices, which was how 68 of the offenders were dealt with out of the 112 vehicles that were stopped.

The joint operation with Thames Valley police was run by Sgt Paul Diamond, who said: “Focus on the wheel when you’re driving – no phone call, text message or anything else is as important as a person’s life.”

How many vehicles? 88, or 112? I'm sorry, Echo, but it can't be both, now, can it? Or perhaps 24 vehicles didn't have drivers?

Good, one more learning experience.
The driver of a Red AUDI (Another Un Doubted Idiot) bearing the reg. R6OB K (probably should read R6 OBK, but deliberately mis-spaced) who was so distracted reading and answering texts as he proceeded North along the A335 to J5 I dared not attempt to filter past, could do with some of the same!

Looking at yesterday's story, 112 were stopped, and 88 of those were prosecuted. Still, it'd be nice if the Echo could at least re-hash IT'S OWN stories properly.

I saw someone the other day with a bundle of dried leaves in their mouth whilst driving , then they set fire to some butane and with this flame set fire to the bundle of leaves in their mouth.... the police COMPLETELY IGNORED THIS !!

Doh! That was a close shave, thought he got away with it!

I often see women putting make-up on whilst driving – always makes me think 'how dumb', what a waste of makeup

It could have been worse he could have been having a wet shave, the trouble is that driving should be a relaxed pleasurable experience and the so-called safety brigade are going to turn it into something akin to a trip to the moon, yes you need to concentrate but you should not sit there arms rigid and all tensed up as that is the most tiring thing you can do. If the do-gooders had their way you would not even be allowed to hold a conversation with your passengers, i am all for road safety but lets keep it in perspective, what is wrong with eating a Mars bar or something but it seems that gets you into trouble nowadays. I have never used my phone whilst on the move but if these restrictions on what i can and cannot do keep increasing i will say to hell with it and do what i like including using my phone. When you look at some of the examples set by our Police forces i don't think they are in any position morally to pick fault with other road users.

Just make it an automatic ban for 12 months. If your job depends on
having a licence and you get caught, tough.
Obey the laws when driving.
There are no excuses.
Simple.

First sentence of the story:

A DRIVER was caught by police having a shave while at the wheel of his car.

Third paragraph:

(police) spotted the man using the electric razor

Fourth paragraph:

He was pulled over and issued with a notice of intended prosecution.

So it mentions the driver's sex three times, and also that he was using an electric razor. Did you even bother reading the story, or are you one of the 'just-scan-the-headl
ines' mob?

I do a lot of driving and I have seen many motor cyclists who seem hell bent on suicide.

Ohec puts a good point across. There is a limit on how much interference in their lives people will take.

What exactly is "due lack of attention"?

Motorcyclists must be the most responsible road users, as you never see them eating, drinking, smoking or having a shave as they roar past you on the motorway. Although I did see one polishing his helmet whilst weaving in and out of a traffic queue once.
