Crash closes major city road

ONE of Southampton’s busiest roads has been closed this evening after a car collided with a lamp post.

Thomas Lewis Way has been closed both ways after the impact caused the post to fall across the road.

The driver suffered minor injuries in the collision at 3.25pm.

The road is set to remain closed while Southern Electric carries out emergency repairs at the site, between A35 Stoneham Way and Mayfield Road.

Queues of traffic have been reported in both directions and the closure is set to remain in place in to the night.
