Southampton's annual naked bike ride returns tonight
11:16am Friday 8th June 2012 in Travel
HUNDREDS of campaigners are set to bare all this evening, at one of the biggest naked events on the south coast.
Around 150 cyclists are set to saddle up wearing nothing but their birthday suits, to tackle a route through the city centre.
The brazen protesters are due to set off from Southampton Common at 6pm for the city’s sixth annual ride.
Organisers have dedicated this year’s ride to former university lecturer Mark Brummell, a former member of the Southampton Cycling Campaign who was killed in an accident while cycling in the New Forest last month.
The event forms part of the World Naked Bike Ride, which is held in 20 countries across the globe to protest against the world’s dependency on oil.
