A MEON Valley school has been graded ‘outstanding’ in a recent Ofsted inspection.

Droxford Junior School was inspected in March and received top marks in every category, moving up from a ‘good’ grade from a previous inspection.

Lead inspector Michael Pye reported pupils have been achieving excellent results and progress in read, writing and maths for the past five years.

In his report he also praised the standard of teaching and the increasing challenges staff provide students during lessons.

Meanwhile parent feedback was very strong with the school described as a warm and welcoming place with a good atmosphere for learning.

Headteacher Ross Irving said: “I am very proud to lead such a vibrant school community. Everyone has worked together to make a good school great!”

Some children celebrated the result with a recent trip to the Runways End outdoor education centre near Aldershot, facing challenges such as caving, archery, orienteering and shooting.

Deputy head Matthew Dampier said: “The centre staff were really impressed with our children saying that not only were they a lovely group to work with but also polite and very brave, especially when it came to the climbing and abseiling the 15 metre tower!

“In some form or other our children used their ‘Keys for success’ and ‘Core Values’ to achieve personal goals and overcome challenges.”
