A TRADITIONAL village carnival showed it is still going strong.

Fair Oak Carnival on Saturday attracted around 300 people to take part in the procession and hundreds more lining the sun-drenched route.

Families sat in their front gardens to enjoy the madcap fun.

Starting at New Road, the procession include some 20 vehicles and two marching bands.

It wound its way through the village with people enjoying the chance to walk in the middle of the road without any danger.

The procession ended at Shorts Road with people going on to a fete at New Century Park.

Highlights included 12th Eastleigh Scouts with a Thunderbirds costume theme.

The Wyvern College Steelband performed giving the event a suitably tropical feel under the blue skies.

LR Brooks Chimney Services had a suitably-themed lorry with youngsters dressed as sweeps.

Somewhere amid the colour was the Mayor of Eastleigh, Jane Welsh.
