HUNDREDS of runners braved the pouring rain to pound Southampton Common for two good causes today – charity and chocolate!
More than 250 people, many adorned in brightly coloured waterproofs to try and stave off a drenching, turned out for the first Run For Chocolate in the city.
The event was sponsored by Cadbury and was open to people of all ages to turn out and race, run, jog or even walk the five kilometre route.
And the heavy rain that started the day failed to stop play, with everyone getting in to the spirit with a warm-up before the claxon sounded and they were off.
The event was the first to be staged in the UK and will see two local charities benefit from cash raised through the race entry fee – Rose Road Association and Scratch.
