IT is the stunning interplay of light on silverware that so catches the eye in the mashed potato masterpiece that is Leftovers Left Over A Week.

In her debut work, Susan Johnson of Primrose Road, Bassett, Southampton has excelled herself with a "modern art" installation created from leftovers found lurking beneath her 13-year-old son's bed.

The creation is just one of the artistic offerings to have flooded in to the Daily Echo since we challenged you to create a piece of art to rival the £250,000 painting planned for Southampton City Art Gallery.

Controversy still rages over the city council's plans to acquire Red Movement, this squiggly-lined painting by 1960s artist Bridget Riley. But can you do any better?
