SCORES of local businesses are gearing up to exhibit at the region's biggest business to business event, Business South 2008.

Taking place on March 5 and 6 at St Mary's Stadium, Southampton, the Daily Echo-backed event features exhibitions, seminars and networking opportunities.

Sponsored by Southampton City Council and supported by Business Link, Southampton and Fareham Chamber of Commerce and Hampshire County Council, the event will be officially opened by Rhys Jones, pictured, the youngest person to climb the highest peak on every continent on the planet.

Rhys will be abseiling down the front of St Mary's Stadium to announce his next big expedition.

The 2007 event attracted 1,819 visitors to 115 exhibiting businesses. With a rising number of visitor enquiries, show organisers JobServe Events are confident that they will pass all targets for a third year of growth in 2008.

Exhibitors at this year's event include Cedar Press, Compass Contract Hire, Chartered Institute of Marketing, B&V Creative, Powersense, Century 21 Business Products Ltd, Southampton and Fareham Chamber of Commerce, LCM PR and Marketing, South-ampton City Council, Marriott Meon Valley, Web-Feet Ltd, Jury's Doyle Hotels, Keypath Consult-ancy, Activate, Eric Robinson Solicitors, New Forest Hotels Plc, The National Trust, Demi Fire Safety Solutions, BH1 Promotions, The Concorde Club and Hotel, Radcliffe & Co Ltd, D&R The Solution, O2 UK Ltd, Top Click Ltd, Winchester Guildhall, Premier Telecom Ltd, 247 Virtual Office, Ayunia Internet Solutions, Workable Solutions, plus many more.

A significant number of exhibitors are returning after gaining success from Business South 2007.

Phil Page, managing director of Compass Contract Hire, said: "As a first-time exhibitor at the 2007 event, I was impressed by the quality of leads that we received and have booked again for this year's event."

Emma James, account manager at D&R Marketing, said: "The event was fantastic, with quality enquiries well above our target, from a variety of local businesses. Some even directly asked for our services."

Not only has JobServe Events lined up a number of event features, including a dedicated seminar programme, New Business Zone, International Trading Zone and Business Advice Zone, but exhibitors are pulling out all the stops and offering thousands of pounds worth of competition prizes, all aimed at enticing visitors to their stands.

The Concorde Club and Hotel will be running a prize draw for visitors, giving the opportunity to win a champagne dinner for two with an overnight stay in their hotel.

Radcliffe & Co and Radcliffe Mortgages will be giving away a round of golf for two at the Marriot Meon Valley Hotel and Country Club and a pair of tickets to a show at The Mayflower Theatre in Southampton.

Visitors can be in with a chance of winning by turning up at any point over the two days.
