Get set for a summer of Bliss
FUN IN THE SUN: Music-lovers soak up some rays.
FUN IN THE SUN: Music-lovers soak up some rays.

THE Wonderstuff, The Whip and Roni Size/Reprazent will headline this year's Blissfields Festival, Scene South can exclusively reveal.

They will be joined on the bill at the festival's new home, Winchester's Matterley Bowl from July 4 to 6, by Southampton indie foursome Six Nation State and Winchester's Captain Phoenix, including Ben Burrows, brother of Razorlight drummer Andy.

Peggy Sue and The Pirates, The Pan I Am, Rumble Strips, Pete and the Pirates, The Noisettes, The Infadels and The Talk Taxis will also grace the stage at the UK's favourite small festival.

As well as the top-flight acts of the Punch Bowl and Manor stages, there will be local input from the neighbouring Southampton, Winchester and Basingstoke on Stage Thrice, which on the Sunday will then host acts from The Lock Out, London - a programme of top-quality DJs to take over after sundown and take the music through to sunrise.

The fourth stage will be home to The Living Room, presenting acoustic acts from the up-and-coming grassroots and folk scenes. Past performers include the likes of Newton Faulkner and Kate Walsh, and this year promises to be more eclectic than ever.

Adding to the festival's carnival-like atmosphere will be juggling, beatbox and DJ workshops, Yallah belly dancers, performances from Panic Circus, storytelling and - for the first time ever at Blissfields - a mass birthday party for anybody celebrating their big day.

From its launch in 2001 in the fields of founders Paul and Mel Bliss, Blissfields has captured the imagination of its patrons, growing each year until its climactic win at the 2007 UK Festival Awards, where it bagged Best Small Festival.

It has also appeared in The Times' Festivals of the Year list.

Wow, what an eclectic line-up! and Roni Size Reprazent - get in and how utterly brilliant for such a small festival. I read somewhere that the ticket price was unbelievably cheap too!

Some of those other acts like The Whip are going to be massive as well and Blissfields had Scouting for Girls last year so who will they pick this year as a band to make it big!

    Blissfields rules :)
