Sharp goal is no surprise to Holloway

SAINTS striker Billy Sharp scored again for Nottingham Forest last night – and Blackpool boss Ian Holloway wasn’t at all surprised.

Sharp, on loan to Forest, netted his second goal in four days to give the visitors the lead at Bloomfield Road last night.

Blackpool hit back to lead 2-1 before another forward with Saints connections, Dexter Blackstock, plundered a last minute leveller.

Holloway took heart from how his side responded to the first-half setback.

"When that soft goal went in I thought 'here we go'. Things haven't been going our way lately. We said let's be brave and positive and we'll do well," he said.

"I said in the team meeting if Billy Sharp scores against us - he always does - then we shouldn't be bothered. The team laughed but then he went and scored.”

I still cant believe we let me go out on loan unless it was personal reasons. Looked superb preseason and was looking forward to watching him score some goals in the prem.
I'd take him back tomorrow, and let JRod get some practice in the champoinship.

Let us hope there is not an option to buy in BS's loan contract. Will need him when we are back in the Champioship next season.

We need proven goalscorers like Billy Sharp back at ST MARYS now.Notts Forest other goal was also scored by an ex SAINTS DEXTER BLACKSTOCK.In my book he is as good as Jay Rodriguez who has got to start finding the back of the net in the premiership pretty darn quick.

Well if notts forest gains promotion ( Long shot i know, but if billy gains momentum there is a chance). Whats Billy going to do, come back to us where he plays third fiddle to Lambert and Jrod. or sign a contract with Forest where he will be a major player. I think he will sign for Forest, meaning saints loosing out on a proven scorer.

Get Billy back at the club...he is just the sort of player we need at the moment...never stops running, never gives up, bags of enthusiasm, poacher in the box, fans favourite, players favourite...the list goes on...oh yeah his goal record is superb for us 10 important goals in 18 games last season that helped us get promoted...what were we thinking loaning him out...top goal scorer in pre season as well...I'm quite sure that Sir Ricky would like to see him back with his Sharp's running into space etc...he worked v.hard and created space for others....ummm Guly or Sharp...I rest my case...one v.annoyed and disappointed Saints fan when it comes to the subject of Sharp. At least I saw him play a cameo role in the game against Wigan in which we looked more of threat when he came on.

The boy should never have gone out on loan, should be starting every game for us! Daft move by Adkins, much like some of the other questionable transfer moves during the summer

Sadly, living too far away I do not get to St. Mary's and have to rely on MoD.

But was there not some talk that Billy Sharp was not quick enough for the Premier League?

However, I thought when he featured for Saints he lived up to his name and was pretty sharp!

Having said that, I was astounded when he went to Forest having just read an article devoted to him and his aspiration in the Daily Mail. Very strange.
