Bale back for Saints trip
10:31am Friday 26th October 2012 in Sport
Gareth Bale
Tottenham's Gareth Bale will return from paternity leave to face former club Saints on Sunday.
The Wales international missed the games with Chelsea and Maribor after the birth of his first child and will be joined in the squad by Brad Friedel, who also did not travel to Slovenia for yesterday's Europa League tie.
Emmanuel Adebayor could returns after back pain and be joined at St Mary's by Mousa Dembele, who has recently struggled with a hip complaint. Michael Dawson (illness) will be assessed, while Scott Parker (Achilles), Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Younes Kaboul (both knee) are all sidelined.
Provisional squad: Friedel, Lloris, Cudicini, Naughton, Walker, Caulker, Gallas, Dawson, Vertonghen, Smith, Livermore, Parrett, Dembele, Huddlestone, Sandro, Sigurdsson, Lennon, Townsend, Bale, Falque, Dempsey, Defoe, Adebayor.

This will be good news for the Bale/spurs fans who posted on the other thread and who are blind to his cheating. I hope you don't get the chance to clap your hero when he "avoids" Fonte and gets his team 3 points and our expense. Saints surely must be the most generous club in the land. Such admiration for a dishonest footballer. Hopefully he will realise that despite the few deluded, most Saints fans can spot cheating very easilty and he will try to play football. Shame to miss the game, I like watching spurs play at the moment, Dempsey is class as are a couple of others...
I hope he gets the warm welcome he deserves as one of our ex players that we helped to turn into the great talent he is now. If you don’t rate him as you said earlier, I’m glad you’re not part of our scouting network.

But he won't its so ingrained in him now he just can't help it. The villa dive is hilarious not for his pathetic attempt to get the goalie sent off, its hilarious for the goalkeepers reaction who is laughing so much its priceless.

He deserves to be welcomed back, with open arms, because he is a truly world class player, and he is a fantastic advert for our academy.
Someone has compared him to Messi, which is ridiculous.
Their style of play is totally different so you cannot compare them like for like.
Just rest assured that there are things that Bale can do that Messi can't and vice versa.
Oh and I'd love to see both of them in a Saint's shirt.

I will start you off, West Ham 2006/07 got rid of Pardew and survived.
Loyalty to the club is more imporant than loyalty to a nice ma who is not up to the job. You need around 40 points to survive, thats about a point a game. We have played 8 and have 4 points, what about if we play 10 and still have only 4?
I thought about supporting your team was in the hope that they would win- thats why we are happy when they win and sad when they lose.
If NA had had no money to spend in the summer then I would not be so citical, but Saints were the 8th biggest spenders in Euro football in the summer. So who is to blame?

On the negatives on changing the manager - how about: Phil Brown at Hull, paul Hart at Pompey, Iain Dowie at Charlton. Steve Wigley at Saints, Peter Reid at Leeds and Sunderland, Jim Smith and Billy Davies at Derby, Chris Hutchings at Bradford. for starters

Regards the dressing room I reckon most of those players feel that there lucky to be playing in the prem and any new manager would get rid of them.

Quite frankly, I don't give 2 sh1ts about that player. He is used in Europe as an example of a British player that is a stylish diver (he might have Mediterranean blood?).

Gareth Bale will be there but he doesn't play for Saints so I will not be giving him a cheer as I do not want him to have a good game. I think the fans should just ignore him and then he might think about what he has done to alienate an entire stadium, but he probably won't.
He dives, so do a lot of other players.
As for Pompey fans on here giving us grief. Please go back to the news and support your club, you do not have anything to be proud of at the moment.

Sadly it is part of the modern game and referees are there to stamp it out.
Talk of bringing Shaw in against the likes of Adebayor, Lennon, Bale and Defoe is like a volunteer at the Boxing Booth at the Fair on Southampton Common taking on Muhammed Ali in his prime.
If nothing has changed during the last week with Saints tactics, then Spurs to win by at least 3 clear goals, perhaps then the bean counter will give Nigel the support he needs and deserves.
I have my doubts, a big defeat on Sunday will probably spell curtains for Nigel, the bean couter is more cold blooded than any reptile.

Shame to miss the game, I like watching spurs play at the moment, Dempsey is class as are a couple of others...I don’t condone diving and think it could easily be eradicated through retrospective punishments. However, it looks to me that you are on a personal crusade with your own agenda against the lad that goes deeper than this. I hope he gets the warm welcome he deserves as one of our ex players that we helped to turn into the great talent he is now. If you don’t rate him as you said earlier, I’m glad you’re not part of our scouting network.
He has class. I doubt he will celebrate a goal against us, much less the hat trick that he could put past us in his form, and given our makeshift back line.
Put gazzaniga back in goal (kelvin's distribution would end up going straight int th jaws of the rotten ham midfield), bring on the shaman, out clyne on the right and support the saints.

I think the next couple of games will prove it one way or the other, failure to get points will mean his departure is certain. I just hope a decent prem manager (that excludes HR) is found before relegation becomes inevitable. Regards the dressing room I reckon most of those players feel that there lucky to be playing in the prem and any new manager would get rid of them.Storm Shadow wrote:Yes. Statistically you are correct on getting the best result for the team and changing the manager. But each case is different. Are Saints truly slumping right now? Is there disharmony in the team? Has the manager lost the dressing room? Is it just a bit too early for pushing the manager out. On the negatives on changing the manager - how about: Phil Brown at Hull, paul Hart at Pompey, Iain Dowie at Charlton. Steve Wigley at Saints, Peter Reid at Leeds and Sunderland, Jim Smith and Billy Davies at Derby, Chris Hutchings at Bradford. for startersSaints n Winners wrote:Well why dont you list the prem clubs that changed manager in November or December and survived. So who is to blame?Storm Shadow wrote: I think NA should be replaced ASAP, only 6 points from the next games will change my mind. The name of the game is staying in the premiership, I doubt that NA is the man to achieve this objective.Great. Change the manager. Anyone remember Wolves last year. Stick with Nige and we will reap the benefits
