Enable automatic updates every 30 seconds? YES NO
- FT Saints 1 Spurs 2
- Ex-Saint Gareth Bale (15) and Clint Dempsey (39) gave Spurs a 2-0 half-time lead before Jay Rodriguez (66) pulled one back.
- Saints were as good in the second half as they were bad in the first and were unfortunate not to salvage a point
FULL TIME Saints were excellent in the second-half but not good enough to overturn their 2-0 half-time deficit
Sandro has taken a powerful Schneiderlin shot in the face after Guly's shot was blocked - 4 mins of injury time
Verwood lad Ben Reeves replaced Danny Fox
SUB Guly on for Davis and Sigurdsson replaced Defoe
excellent Saints move but now Ben Reeves and Guly are warming up...
Lallana, Lambert and Mayuka looking a decent front three
Lambert from a tight angle wins another corner...Saints are a different side in this half
Rodriguez's first Premier League goal came from a rebound after Friedel had saved Fonte's header. It has really lifted the atmosphere here at St Mary's.
GOAL! 1-2 Rodriguez pulls one back from resulting corner
Fonte header from excellent Fox free kick wins a Saints corner
YELLOW CARD Brazilian Sandro the first to go into Lee Mason's book

Saints are playing some good footy at the mo.. if they could put it together for 90mins it would be great.. support at patience is what they need not knives in the back from their own so called fans.
Spurs SUB Livermore on for fellow midfielder Huddlestone
Friedel punches clear under pressure from Rodriguez, who soon threatens again with a header
SUB Emmanuel Mayuka comes on for Puncheon
Brilliant run by Lennon but fortunately Kyle Walker's attempt was poor
Jason Puncheon's volley wide is comfortably Saints' best effort of the game so far
Things not to do on ur home debut..throw a bottle at ur own fans #boruc— @chriscox7 28 October 2012
Basic defensive mistakes again, except we've also got nothing to offer on the break today. Lambert playing way too deep. #saintsfc— @antonydjames 28 October 2012
As much as I hate to say it i do feel Adkins will be sacked after today, unless we win #saintsfc— @Southamptonmark 28 October 2012
Saints ended the first half with an excellent move that ended with a threatenng Clyne cross. But it's been men against boys for most of this contest.

Rickie Lambert not looking match fit to me, wonder if that was the reason he was left out the West Ham Game. Hate to say it but Maayuka for Lambert, Although if Adkins takes him off he is gonna get an ear bashing from the Lambert Faithful.
GOAL 0-2 (Clint Dempsey) Boruc couldn't stop Defoe's shot, Fonte slipped and Dempsey did the rest
Wouldn't be a surprise if Bale scores a second. He has gone close, winning a corner before heading over Huddlestone's flag-kick
Not for the first time today, Defoe misses the target. Kyle Walker's pull-back created the opportunity
RT @billysharp10: Saints fans that was amazing I heard u all on bbc solent, driving back with my family.I will never forget that.thank you #saintsfc #ljs— @leahsfc_11 28 October 2012
Poor defending once again,had to be bale. #saintsfc— @naseem_97 28 October 2012
GOAL! Typical. Gareth Bale opens the scoring with a header following great ball from Tom Huddlestone. But good to see him respect his former club with a low-key 'celebration'. 0-1

11 mins past.
A big hand to Billy Sharp and his wife.
Overall, Nathaniel Clyne has done well against Gareth Bale so far. A crunching tackle on the Spurs winger early on has hopefully set the tone
encouraging start from the Saints, looking well-balanced and comfortable in possession
Shaky from Boruc but Saints get away with it, Lennon going close.
Confirmation that Rodriguez is playing up front alongside Lambert

Maya back to his better position at center back... Was hoping to see Tadanari Lee back, at least on the bench. Maybe he needs another week to get back to match fitness.
4-4-2 for #SaintsFC? Lambert back in the starting line up too - strong Spurs XI but fingers crossed the lads will give a dogged performance!— @DanSmith_x 28 October 2012
