AFC Totton's under-18s won a remarkable penalty shootout against the young guns of AFC Bournemouth last night to book their place in the FA Youth Cup second round proper.
The Stags bounced back from behind to level 1-1 with the Cherries at the Goldsands Stadium.
And, after a goalless period of extra time, it was the non-League club who emerged triumphant, winning an epic shootout 11-10.
Nathan Hurst had equalised for Totton after highly-rated 15-year-old Sam Matthews had put Cherries ahead with a 25-yard curler.
Totton goalkeeper Matt Fredericks was excellent throughout and it was his opposite number, Ed Tierney, who suffered spot-kick heartbreak when he lofted his effort over the crossbar.
