Despite the recent dip in temperature some great turbot continue to be taken from just a few miles to the south of the Needles as Steve Rose and Alec Harmer found when they went afloat in the private boat ‘Penny Sue’.

Fishing out of Lymington, Rose caught the pick of the bunch which tipped the scales down to 14lb; it was taken on a whole pouting. Harmer used fresh mackerel to tempt a tasty flattie weighing 11lb 12oz. An excellent brace of fish from an inshore mark.
