Sholing should have a new face in their squad to confront the might of Southern One South & West leaders Hungerford at the Silverlake Arena tomorrow.
The Boatmen have signed wideman Charlie Smeeton from Winchester City and will draft him straight in providing the paperwork goes through in time.
Isle of Wight-based Smeeton was a key member of Winchester’s Sydenhams Premier title-winning side last season but Sholing boss Dave Diaper has been a fan since his days with Newport IoW.
“I’ve liked Charlie for a number of years going back to when we used to play in the Wessex,” he said. “He’s a good, hard-working wideman who’s quite strong - and he’s a nice lad too.
“I used to play on the Island myself for BHC and I know there are good players over there.”
Smeeton’s arrival will be a welcome boost to injury-hit Sholing who go into tomorrow’s contest sitting third to bottom of the table, albeit that they have won their last four games.
