Shaw becomes youngest Saint to start in Premier League

Luke Shaw Luke Shaw

Teenage left-back Luke Shaw will today become the youngest ever Saints player to start a Premier League match, after being named in the lineup for the visit of Swansea.

Shaw, 17, was used as a late substitute in last Monday's 2-0 defeat at West Brom, but is in this afternoon's starting XI and will have the task of dealing with the visitors' club-record signing, Spanish winger Pablo Hernandez.

Academy graduate Shaw has made one start already for Saints this season, in the 4-1 Capital One Cup win at Stevenage in August.

Best of luck son; hope you have a great game!

I hope it isn't too soon in your development, and you aren't being thrown in because the Satins fans have made Fox's position untenable - and yhat the ones who moan at Guly & Fox give you a chance to (a) play your way in, and (b) make a few mistakes without having to worry that the world is on your shoulders...

I'm in spain hoping to listen to game on SaintsPlayer but can't get the audio. I'm ok with 'Latest News' so it seems like everything is OK but can't get the game.

Any ideas?

He played well today and came off with cramp - looks a good replacement for the future, goodness knows we needed it at LB.

a good solid performance.bodes well for the future.but please nigel use him sparingly at first.home games and cup games for sure.away matches maybe.we do not want the young guy to suffer from burn out like several young players have suffered in the past.COYR
