  • "Firstly thought Puncheon had his best game for Saints on saturday. I still have doubts as to whether he has the quality to be a consistant performer at this level, he does struggle to get past defenders. That said he is working had and helping out defensively so positives outweigh negatives at the moment. I cannot beleive anyone can question Gaston being in the team, he is real quality. He plays the game at his own pace and will get better and better. Before we signed him he was rated one of the top young players in the world. The touch to put Adam through for a shot on goal in the first half was devine. On the goalkeeping fron I thing Gazza looked nervous, I put that down to lack of experience.he dropped an absolute gooly the week before, an experienced goalkeeper will put that behind him, with a young goalkeeper it will play on his mind. I think that we now need to stick with him, chopping and changing goalkeepers does no good at all. If he is dropped now then it will damage him long term.Let's not kid ourselves, QPR were rubbish, to say that we are better than out league position is just not true.At the moment the table reflect how we have played, but the season still has a long way to go and if we can win our next two home games then things will look a lot healthier, a big ask but that would give us 10 points out of 12."

Former QPR loanee Jason Puncheon produced a virtuoso performance on his return to Loftus Road, inspiring Saints to a crucial 3-1 victory that could have kept Nigel Adkins in a job.

A first away win of the season was not enough to move Saints up from 19th place, but Puncheon insists the side are now showing that they are far better than their position suggests.

“As a group we've always known that we shouldn’t be where we are,” he said.
