Crisis-club Truro up next for Eastleigh

EASTLEIGH have the perfect chance to return to winning ways tonight – at home to troubled Truro City.

The Cornish outfit make the long journey to the Silverlake Stadium to play a match that was postponed last month following their failure to meet a payment deadline.

Truro have been in administration since August and suffered more bad news yesterday when former Weymouth goalkeeper Tim Sandercombe claimed he had been made redundant by the club.

Manager Lee Hodges denied the claim, releasing a statement to say: “I’m disappointed with his tweets. I did not want Tim to leave. No-one has forced him to leave the club.”

Hodges will also be without Dave Newton, 62, alongside him in the dugout tomorrow. His assistant announced his retirement with immediate effect on the coach back from Eastbourne Borough – where rock-bottom Truro lost 1-0.

“The long away trips in particular were just becoming too tiring for him,” said Hodges, who made the controversial signing of former Plymouth goalkeeper Lee McCormick last week.

McCormick was jailed four years ago after pleading guilty to a drink-drive charge following an accident that killed two young brothers and paralysed their dad.

Eastleigh are aiming for a return to form tonight after back-to-back defeats.
