Newcastle will welcome back midfielder Cheick Tiote for Sunday's trip to Saints after missing out on last night's Europa League tie through suspension.

It is a rare piece of positive team news for ex-Southampton manager Alan Pardew ahead of his first return to St Mary's since being sacked in August 2010.

Skipper Fabricio Coloccini, who played in last night's 1-1 draw with Maritimo, is out, as he completes his three-match domestic ban, while winger Hatem Ben Arfa (hamstring) and midfielder Yohan Cabaye (groin) are both on the sidelines.

Striker Shola Ameobi (groin) and midfielder Gabriel Obertan (toe) remain doubts. Winger Jonas Gutierrez (knee) and utility man James Perch (thigh) are available, while striker Papiss Cisse has a chance of playing, despite picking up a kick on the thigh last night.

Fellow frontman and ex-Saints player Nile Ranger has been added to the squad.
