Lallana: We have shown we can compete in top flight

Daily Echo: Adam Lallana Adam Lallana

Saints captain Adam Lallana believes the side are finally beginning to feel at home in the Premier League.

The club moved out of the bottom three after Sunday’s 2-0 win over Newcastle, at St Mary’s.

That followed the 3-1 success at QPR a week previously, which marked only the second victory of the campaign.

With the team having recorded back-to-back wins and now unbeaten in three matches, Lallana, pictured, believes Saints are at last settling into the division.

“We had a tough start and we feel we should have probably been a little higher up the league,” he said.

“We’ve led in a lot of games this year but just not seen it out. We are adjusting to the standard and it is showing by the results we’re getting.

“We will just keep working hard and learning. It is the first season for a lot of us in the top flight but we’ll come to terms with it.”

The TV commentators here were oohing and aahing in delight at our performance on Saturday. Not like the Sky commentary team, who seem more interested in sparking controversy than paying attention to what is going on. Is there an equivalent of yellow chevrons for bad performances by commentators?

Having cork back has made the difference, there are some big games this week,if we were to do the unthinkable and beat scousers that would drag them write down but a good result against Norwich is a must.

All four teams around us are playing tonight, we will lose ground for 24hr whatever the results are, I guess draws would suit us the best as long as we win tomorrow.

We were always able to compete at this level, Nigel just had to get team selection, tactics and substitutions right.
Hopefully this is now sorted and we can move foward.
Only injuries, suspensions or loss of form should force Nigel to make changes to this current starting 11.

Don't you think his early difficulties might have because injuries limiting team selection and not poor managerial skills?

Look on the bright side, Osprey, there's a world of difference between losing ground and losing YOUR ground (well, shed).

With out doubt in form Norwich is likely to be a tougher deal than Newcastle in disarray. Saints can win if they perform at the level they now know is needed for a win.
I hope the crowd is plentiful, they really make a huge difference for the good. The singing was surround sound 31 406.to 11. Which for the non technical minded means the more we generate the less energy is dissipated . Build your chi, save it carefully and use it wisely as I am sure Confucucious would agree!!
Come on you saints, tomorrow we all need to be there to support the most exciting team in the league!

I look forward to Wednesday night. A draw will do, after the solid results against qpr and Newcastle. A win will have many of us starting to look higher up the table.
