Hampshire chalked up three wins from three when they defeated neighbours Dorset in Division 1 of the Riley’s British Inter County League.

The victory keeps Hampshire in the hunt for promotion as they sit in third place behind Nottingham and Cornwall.

The men’s B team also ended level with a late run of victories from Mark Thorne, Nillson Pritchard and Paul Gibbs adding to earlier wins from Tim Hope, Ben Bran and captain Steve Ballard.

Sue Lowther, Wendy Reinstadtler, Jane Monaghan and Gemma Hayter all recorded wins for the women’s A team to produce a two-game advantage with the men’s A string ready to toe the oche.

They started off with a win from Dave Bonnett before going behind but Dennis Murrell, Sam Rooney and Mike Gillet reeled off three wins on the bounce and Dean Jones, Kev Ede and Danny Smith brought home the victory.

The final game of the day was a battle of the Mitchells – Dorset’s Scott beating Hampshire’s Andy while recording the weekend’s best average of 30.36 at the same time.

Hampshire returned home with a 20-16 win which netted them three more bonus points.
