Eastleigh boss not happy over 'inexperienced' officials
DEFEATED Eastleigh boss Richard Hill claimed Saturday’s Blue Square Bet South clash at Dover Athletic was “too big” for the three officials.
He felt the turning point of the Spitfires’ 2-0 loss came on the stroke of half-time when Eastleigh, trailing to a Ben May brace, had a goal disallowed from a Jai Reason free kick and Dale Binns sent off in the process.
“From an attacking perspective we were by far the better team, even with ten men,” said Hill, below.
“We passed the ball better than Dover, but the game hinged on the injustice of having that goal disallowed and Dale Binns sent off.
“We had a free kick and the referee awarded the goal, but then he disallowed it on the advice of the linesman who was 50 yards away running the other half of the pitch.
“There was an alleged elbow by Binns, but I didn’t see anything and I don’t see how the linesman did from that far away.
“There were three very big games in the BSB South on Saturday – at Welling, Salisbury and Dover – and we must have had three of the most inexperienced officials.
“It’s not their fault, it’s the fault of the powers that be for putting them in that situation..
